Introduction

The TCF-142 serial-to-fiber converter is equipped with multiple interfaces that can support RS-232 or RS-422/485 serial ports, multimode or single mode fiber. The TCF-142 converter can extend the serial transmission distance to 5 km (using TCF-142-M multimode fiber) or 40 km (using TCF-142-S single mode fiber). The TCF-142 converter can be configured to convert RS-232 or RS-422/485 communications, but does not support simultaneous conversion.

Baud rate adaptation

The TCF-142 converter can automatically detect the serial port baud rate, providing a convenient advantage. Even if the baud rate of the device changes, data can still be transferred through the converter without loss.

Provide optical fiber ring mode

The TCF-142 converter can connect serial devices to the optical ring network. Simply connect one of the Tx ports of the TCF-142 to the Rx port of another converter to form a fiber optic ring. Once the ring is established, simply use the DIP switches to set the TCF-142 to enable ring mode. When a node transmits data, the data will be transmitted along the ring network node, and will not stop transmission until it reaches the device that originally sent the signal. You can use the TCF-142 to set up fiber optic rings (up to 100 km perimeter).
